Class A Affiliate for the Florida Marlins
Member of the South Atlantic League
Operated by Greensboro Baseball, LLC
Renamed from the Greensboro Bats to the Grasshoppers in October of 2004, the Hoppers moved from War Memorial Stadium into state-of-the-art downtown stadium in February 2005.
After much preparation, the Greensboro Grasshoppers opened their inaugural season on April 3, 2005 with an exhibition game versus their parent club, the Florida Marlins. With a classy open to the stadium, the first game played featured names like Carlos Delgado, Mike Lowell, Dontrelle Willis and Paul LoDuca, a treat for minor league fans young and old. Following the spectacular inaugural game, the Grasshoppers embarked on what would turn out to be a highly successful season in the stadium and the community.
The Grasshoppers have welcomed over 1,250,000 to the ballpark, becoming the only Class A team in the history of Minor League Baseball to draw over 400,000 fans and grow its attendance for three straight years in a new ballpark. They are the proud recipients of both the South Atlantic League's Club Merit Award and the General Manager of the Year Award for the past three years.
