Greensboro, N.C. – Miss Babe Ruth and the staff of the Greensboro Grasshoppers are getting excited as the team returns to NewBridge Bank Park Thursday for the first time since April 27. Along with the action on the field, the Hoppers’ eight-game homestand features the entertainment act of Reggy on Sunday (May 11) and the first-of-two “Babe’s Bark at the Park” nights on Tuesday (May 13).
The homestand sets sail on Natty Greene’s Thirsty Thursday with a special double-header beginning at 5:00 p.m. against the Lake County Captains and runs through Thursday, May 15.
The following is an inside look at what the Hoppers have planned for the upcoming homestand.
Thursday, May 8 // vs. Lake County Captains // 5:00 p.m.
Natty Greene’s Thirsty Thursday… Greensboro returns home for the first time since April 27 to host the Lake County Captains… Take advantage of discounted beverages throughout the stadium and join the 15-inning party in the Hoppers’ GoTriad Grandstand and on Natty’s Hill. Fifteen innings you ask? That’s right; the Hoppers are playing 15 innings. After the Greensboro, Lake County May 2 game was suspended, the two teams will complete the remaining eight innings of the suspended game before opening their originally scheduled series with a seven-inning match. The gates will open at 4:30 p.m. and the first game will begin at 5:00 p.m.; the second game is slated to start 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one.
Friday, May 9 // vs. Lake County Captains // 7:00 p.m.
Lincoln Financial Fireworks Friday… Every Friday at NewBridge Bank Park is a celebration as the Hoppers get the weekend started with a postgame fireworks show presented by Lincoln Financial.
Saturday, May 10 // vs. Lake County Captains // 7:00 p.m.
Wrangler Skyrocket Saturday… Bring the whole family out to the park for a second and final postgame fireworks show of the homestand… Saturday is also the first-of-two appearances by the North Carolina Education Lottery at NewBridge Bank Park the season… The North Carolina Education Lottery will have a booth on the concourse where fans can learn how to play all of the Lottery’s exciting games.
Sunday, May 11 // vs. Lake County Captains // 5:00 p.m.
Moses Cone Health System Family Day Sunday… Reggy, “The Purple Party Dude”, will be at NewBridge Bank Park Sunday to help celebrate Mother’s Day Sunday… Reggy will entertain fans with his off-the-wall fur flying antics and pledges “lots of laughs, plenty of kisses, wild fur flying routines” and much more… Balance Day Spa will also be selecting three women for a “Mommy Makeover” during the game… The first 25 women to sign up at the Balance Day Spa table on the concourse will receive a free candle and representatives will select three lucky ladies to be made over; participants are NOT required to be mothers… Along with Reggy and top-notch spa treatment, fans are invited to show up early to play catch on the field before the game and stay late to run the bases following the game, courtesy of Parisi Speed School.
Monday, May 12 // vs. Lakewood BlueClaws // 7:00 p.m.
Harris Teeter Monday… The Grasshoppers pass the halfway point of their homestand and open a four-game series against the Lakewood BlueClaws on Harris Teeter Monday… Fans can bring their Harris Teeter VIC Card’s to the Grasshoppers Box Office to receive $2 off their tickets (discount on maximum of four tickets)… May 12 is also MS Society Night at NewBridge Bank Park… The MS Society will be giving away free items on the concourse throughout the game and are bringing over 300 people out for the game.
Tuesday, May 13 // vs. Lakewood BlueClaws // 7:00 p.m.
Time Warner Tuesday… The crowd-pleaser that she is, Miss Babe Ruth is at it again… The Hoppers are hosting “Babe’s Bark in the Park” night Tuesday and inviting fans to bring their dogs out to the ballpark… Along with their dogs, Time Warner Cable customers can bring their statements to the box office to receive $1 off their ticket… If you plan on bringing your dog to the park, plan on sitting out on Natty’s Hill and entering through the Edgeworth Gate… Each participant will need to buy a $3 Pooch Pass with all the proceeds going to Animal Rescue & Foster Program; participants will also be required to fill out a form before their dog is allowed in the park; forms can be downloaded here or filled out at the gate.
Wednesday, May 14 // vs. Lakewood BlueClaws // 10:45 a.m.
AIG United Guaranty School Day Game… Head out to the park early Wednesday to catch a 10:45 a.m. game… AIG United Guaranty is presenting the Hoppers’ final School Day Game of the season as local school kids make their way to the park for the early afternoon affair.
Thursday, May 15 // vs. Lakewood BlueClaws // 7:00 p.m.
Natty Greene’s Thirsty Thursday… Seven days after it all began, the Hoppers eight-game homestand comes to an end with a 7 p.m. game against the Lakewood BlueClaws… Come out and cheer the Hoppers on while taking advantage of discounted beverages throughout the stadium and join the 9-inning party in the Hoppers’ GoTriad Grandstand and on Natty’s Hill.
