Life-size Bench Featuring Guilford and Miss Babe Ruth Added to NewBridge Bank Park

Greensboro, N.C. – The Greensboro Grasshoppers unveiled the newest attraction to NewBridge Bank Park today with a bench featuring life-size replicas of Miss Babe Ruth and Guilford the Grasshopper.

The bench is located outside the Plaza Entrance on the corner of Eugene and Bellemeade for fan to utilize year-round and joins an area already featuring several over-sized baseballs, a large multi-level grassy area, a water fountain and a 9/11 memorial to flight attendant Sandy Bradshaw.

Greensboro’s new MegaMascot was created by Fun Enterprises, a company that creates a variety of large sports art pieces. The company has provided their MegaMascot product to three Major League Baseball teams including the Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Indians and Milwaukee Brewers; working with the Grasshoppers to create the bench was the first time the company has provided such services to any Minor League Baseball team in the world.

“This is another example of our team trying to enhance the overall fan experience at the ballpark and this is something that can be enjoyed 365 days a year,” said Greensboro President and General Manager Donald Moore. “We believe this will be a great addition to our entry and create a great photo opportunity to those coming out to a game or just walking by the park. When people go somewhere they always want to take something home with them and this provides the opportunity to take home a picture and a memory.”

Its presence will allow fans to sit and take pictures with Guilford and Miss Babe Ruth at any time and will put the Grasshoppers’ most recognizable faces prominently on display for all to enjoy.

The creation of Greensboro’s MegaMascot marks the second time the Hoppers have worked with Fun Enterprises; the company also created the larger-than-life baseball bat and glove that are on display near the Rotary Play Park inside the stadium.

The Grasshoppers have welcomed over 1,250,000 fans to NewBridge Bank Park, becoming the only Class A team in the history of Minor League Baseball to draw over 400,000 fans and grow its attendance for three straight years in a new ballpark.  They are the proud recipients of both the South Atlantic League's Club Merit Award and the General Manager of the Year Award for the past three years.
