For a brief while, things on August 26 seemed backwards at First Horizon Park.
 
The Booster Club picnic lines were moving swiftly, but the servers behind those chaffing dishes looked different than normal.  On this particular Sunday, it was the Greensboro Grasshoppers players and coaches treating the Booster Club to the luncheon, in thanks for all their support during the season.
 
The Hoppers Booster Club, which consists of just over 40 members, spends the baseball season preparing welcome kits for the players arrival, creating road trip goodie bags, hosting Sunday home cooked picnics and assisting the team in any way possible.  Not to mention, they cheer on their ‘boys of summer’ at each of the Hoppers 70 home games, as well as some nearby opponent parks.
 
The team decided the best way to show their appreciation was to reciprocate something that means so much to them throughout their time here in Greensboro.
 
“They give so much of their time and energy to this team that it is the least we can do to let them know how much they are appreciated,” said Hoppers hitting coach Anthony Iapoce.
 
In the 21 years of existence, this is believed to be the first picnic thrown in honor of the Booster Club.
 
"It was amazing and strange to see the team behind the tables serving us and cleaning up,” said Booster Club Membership Director Kathy Schlosser.  “They are a super bunch of young men.”
