Hoppers and BlueClaws Suspended in Fifth

July 1, 2009

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Inclement weather forced both teams to their respective clubhouses Wednesday night, as game two of the four-game series was suspended during the bottom of the fifth inning.

The Grasshoppers left the field clinging to a 3-0 lead, after starter Tom Koehler registered one out in the Lakewood fifth.  Koehler had worked around five hits in his first four innings of work to hold the BlueClaws scoreless in the contest.

Speedy right fielder Isaac Galloway has already collected two hits in the ballgame, and has crossed the plate twice to account for two of the Hoppers' three runs.  Kevin Mattison drove in two runs with a two-out double, while a Ben Lasater single brought home the Hoppers' third run of the game.

Play is scheduled to resume at 5:05 p.m. on Thursday, with the regularly scheduled 7:05 p.m. matchup to immediately follow.  The Hoppers and BlueClaws will continue with the series finale on Friday, game time is 7:05 p.m.
