RAYNOR SELECTED AS SOUTH ATLANTIC LEAGUE MOST VALUABLE PLAYER

August 28, 2007

(Greensboro, NC)  The South Atlantic League has formally announced its selection of Greensboro Grasshopper John Raynor as the league’s Most Valuable Player for the 2007 season.

The announcement comes in conjunction with Raynor’s appointment to the South Atlantic League Annual Post-Season All-Star Team.

A ninth round pick in the 2006 Draft, John has been an offensive catalyst for the Hoppers all season and currently leads the team in seven categories: batting average (.333), runs scored (110), hits (148), triples (8), walks (66), stolen bases (54) and on-base percentage (.429).

“This is a honor truly fitting of a player like John,” said Grasshoppers President and General Manager Donald Moore.  “He is an exciting player to watch and he has the ability and passion to make things happen.”

The Grasshoppers are the 2005 and 2006 recipients of the South Atlantic League's Club Merit Award and General Manager of the Year, and have welcomed over 400,000 fans in their first two seasons at First Horizon Park.
