Taylor and Raynor Receive Marlins Organization Honors

Greensboro outfielder John Raynor and Greensboro/Jupiter pitcher Graham Taylor have been named the Florida Marlins Minor League Player and Pitcher of the Year for 2007.

Raynor appeared in 116 games for the Grasshoppers, finishing the season with a .333 batting average. He scored 110 runs on 148 hits, including 28 doubles, eight triples and 13 home runs with 57 RBI. He stole 54 bases in 62 attempts, with an on-base percentage of .429 and slugging percentage of .519.

Raynor led the Grasshoppers in runs, hits, triples, walks, and stolen bases. Raynor was also recognized at the Most Valuable Player in the South Atlantic League. Overall, Raynor ranked second in the organization in batting average and first is stolen bases.

Taylor spent the majority of the season in Greensboro, posting an 11-3 record with a 2.68 ERA in 25 starts for the 'Hoppers. He threw three complete games and one shut-out. Over 164.1 innings pitched, he held opposing batters to a .222 average, allowing only 18 walks while striking out 135 batters. He led the team in wins, starts, complete games, shut-outs, innings pitched and strikeouts.

Taylor finished the season in Jupiter, recording a 1-1 record with a 8.10 ERA in two starts for the Hammerheads. Taylor led all qualifying Marlins minor leaguers in ERA (2.99), tied for first in wins (12, with Chris Volstad), and was tops in strikeouts (138).
